Lately I’ve noticed more people talking about how exhausting mainstream social and dating apps have become. A lot of them feel overly focused on quick interactions instead of actual conversations or community building.

Because of that, I started exploring smaller platforms and forums again to see where people are having more genuine discussions online. One site I recently came across was gayteam, and it reminded me of how niche communities used to feel more personal and interactive before everything became algorithm-driven.

I think platforms that focus more on community engagement still have value, especially for people looking to connect through shared interests instead of just endless swiping.

Curious to hear what others think are independent community platforms becoming relevant again?
